The RTC introduced its new Mobility Training Center (MTC) on the GO to the community! MTC on the GO is a mobile lab aimed at training those with disabilities and vulnerable populations in navigating the RTC transit system confidently.
Partnering with Opportunity Village (OV), the agency unveiled a specially designed bus wrap, transit shelters, and rider alerts going in all bus’s valley wide, featuring artwork by OV's commissioned artists from the Boyd Gaming Fine & Performing Arts Program.
Equipped to teach skills like fare box usage and route planning, the MTC on the GO caters to persons with disabilities, seniors, and veterans, promoting independence and safety. This project is funded by the Federal Transit Administration's Mobility for All grant and U.S. Department of Transportation.
The RTC collaborated with local community leaders and organizations to make this initiative a reality. We were honored to be joined by community leaders, RTC Vice Chair and North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron, RTC Board Member and Boulder City Mayor Joe Hardy, the Clark County School District, and Nevada HAND. Partners praised the effort for enhancing transit access and emphasized its importance for community inclusion at all levels.
Opportunity Village's CEO Bob Brown commended the partnership, highlighting the significance of featuring OV artists' work.
Since its opening in 2016, the RTC's Mobility Training Center has empowered over 4,000 individuals. With 20,000 paratransit-eligible customers, the MTC on the GO will only further strengthen transportation education, fostering independence and inclusivity in transit.
