Mobility Training on the GO
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) now offers a Mobility Training Center on the GO, a specially retrofitted RTC bus that brings mobility trainers and resources directly to the community, meeting clients where they are. The training will help those with disabilities develop skills to navigate traditional bus service, allowing them to travel independently and expand their transportation options.
The Mobility Training Center On The GO will visit organizations and conduct 1.5 hours of group transit training, which will include:
- PowerPoint presentation about the RTC Fixed Route Transit Services
- How to use the transit guide and pocket map
- How to route your trip using the transit guide and/or RTC Mobile App
- Demonstration of how to use the fare box, ticket validator, and mobile ticketing system
- How to safely enter and exit the bus with a mobility device
- Proper mobility device securement
- FREE mobility trained ID cards for all eligible customers

*NOTE: Another option is to take a field trip with your seniors to our Mobility Training Center. The Mobility Training Center has a large classroom where we are able to conduct the training. Not only will the seniors get the full training, they will also get a tour of the Mobility Training Center, where they can see what other services the RTC offers. Please let us know if you are interested in this option.

For Senior Centers and Senior Living Communities
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) offers a free on-site training for senior citizens who are interested in maintaining their independence by using the fixed route city buses. We know that asking family members and friends for rides may be difficult at times; therefore, let us teach your seniors everything that they need to know about riding the city buses. RTC will demonstrate how easy, affordable and safe riding can be!
The RTC will come to your senior center or senior living community to conduct a group training for the seniors. Here is what’s included in the Seniors on the GO training:
- PowerPoint presentation about the RTC Fixed Route Transit Services
- How to use the transit guide and pocket map (FREE guides and maps included with training)
- How to route your trip using the transit guide and/or RTC Mobile App
- Finding the closest bus stop to your home and destination
- FREE demo ride on a city bus (request a city bus to be brought onto your site)
- Demonstration of how to use the fare box and request your stop
- How to safely enter and exit the bus with a mobility device
- FREE reduced fare ID cards for all eligible seniors attending the training
Those who are interested in the Seniors on the GO training, we ask that you have at least 10 or more seniors attend the training. Training dates and times may vary. The length of time for the training is about 2 hours. This includes the PowerPoint presentation, free demo ride on the bus and reduced fare ID forms.

Seniors on the GO Referral Form

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) offers Clark County School District (CCSD) high schools and middle schools free mobility training for students who are part of the Special Education Program. This training will provide the students and teachers with information about the RTC Fixed Route Transit Services and how to use this city bus system safely and properly. Mobility training is directed to assist people in developing the confidence necessary to travel independently. What is provided in the training?
- Powerpoint presentation about RTC Fixed Route Transit Services (city bus)
- Review of transit guide and pocket guide map
- Trip routing using rideRTC mobile app.
- Use of the farebox, ticket validator and ticket vending machine (TVM)
- Tour of the Mobility Training Center (MTC)
- Free reduced fare I.D. cards for all students who complete the training
Our classroom setting can accommodate up to 20 people total (students and staff). Training may be provided Monday-Thursday. Approximate time for training is 2 hours. The mobility instructor can also provide a demo trip with the students and teachers at a later date. This trip will consist of traveling from their schools to a specific destination of the teacher’s choice. *NOTE: If you can’t come to us, we can have a mobility specialist provide the training at your school.

FAQs
During the training period, you will be taught how to get to and from transit stops, learn important riding techniques, emergency procedures and how to get to and from specific destinations. The RTC mobility instructor will work with you to plan out your trips using the Transit Guide and/or the RTC Mobile App and you will be taught how to maneuver your mobility aid, if necessary, on and off RTC transit vehicles using devices such as ramps, lifts, priority seats and securement straps. You will also learn how to deal with certain situations such as what to do if you miss your ride, get on the wrong bus or get lost.
