Transportation Infrastructure has been a hot topic during the past few months and rightfully so. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed by the President last month means a $150 million investment will be made directly in Southern Nevada’s transportation system in the next five years.* Keeping up with the momentum, Under Secretary of Transportation Policy Carlos Monje visited the RTC earlier this week to learn more about how transportation moves in the valley.

Meeting at the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC), the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certified transit hub in downtown Las Vegas, Monje was joined by Congresswoman Dina Titus, RTC Board Chairwoman and City of Henderson Mayor Debra March, Vice Chair and Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, and the RTC Executive team.

The tour focused on current and future RTC sustainability initiatives, such as the Bike Center, Bike Share program and the agency’s transition to a 100% zero emissions fleet, utilizing a combination of battery and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.

*New funding will be used to improved roadways and transit through projects that support safety, equity, modernization and climate action.
