LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) urges transit passengers and motorists to prepare for significant delays during the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT)’s “Dropicana,” which will include a complete closure of I-15 at Tropicana Avenue from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, to 5:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30.
Initial transit detours and traffic restrictions will begin at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Route 201 (Tropicana Avenue) and the Centennial Express (CX) will be detoured. Riders are encouraged to use the free rideRTC app or visit rtcsnv.com/detours for the latest detour information and route updates.
Select RTC paratransit routes may also be impacted. Paratransit passengers with rides scheduled near the affected area should call 702-228-4800 to see if their ride will be impacted.
Motorists should prepare for delays through the affected area and consider alternate routes. Tropicana ramp closures and other impacts will continue for approximately 18 months.
The I-15/Tropicana interchange is one of the busiest in the Las Vegas Valley. To address future population growth as well as increased visitor volumes, NDOT’s expansion of this interchange will add capacity and improve accessibility to the resort corridor. Detailed information and closure schedules can be found on NDOT’s I-15/Tropicana project website, i15Trop.com.
