A little rain couldn’t stop the RTC and Sumnu Marketing from celebrating the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 16. Together, we marched in the 41st annual Downtown Las Vegas MLK Day Parade. This year’s theme was “Living the Dream: It Starts with Me! Shifting Priorities to Create the Beloved Community.” The RTC’s 30th Anniversary wrapped bus kept us company by following close behind. Over the past 30 years the RTC has strived to embody this year’s parade theme by connecting the community to what matters most.
Since 2018, the RTC has participated in the parade taking part in celebrating this historical figure. The parade was founded by former Nevada State Assemblyman Wendell P. Williams who was a key contributor in the lobbying efforts for the passage of the national holiday and the naming of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (formerly Highland Street) in Las Vegas’ Historic Westside.
