Sometimes the eyes in the sky are just as vital as the boots on the ground.
On Saturday, June 10, Nevada State Police dispatchers received 911 calls about a wrong-way driver on US-95 near Boulder Highway. Troopers lost sight of the driver who was traveling south in northbound lanes.
In the RTC Traffic Management Center, engineering technicians Johanna Lovas and Conan DeMarco worked together to maintain eyes on the driver and relay his movements and locations all the way to the I-11 bridge at Arizona. Because of their quick action, Nevada State Police caught up to and apprehended the wrong-way driver, preventing a potentially disastrous, even fatal, situation.
Safety is the top priority for the RTC and our partners. This event reinforces the importance of collaborating with Nevada State Police and the Nevada Department of Transportation.
