LAS VEGAS – As part of the agency’s newly redesigned website, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is launching a blog to keep Southern Nevadans updated about developments in transportation, from traffic management and transit to regional planning and innovation, information that may not be widely known but has a great impact on the community. The blog will offer a behind-the-scenes look and an engaging perspective on all the RTC is doing to improve transportation and residents’ daily commutes through new services, projects and technologies.

“Everyone depends on transportation – cars, buses, bicycles – yet they may not realize what is going on behind the scenes to improve their commute, enhance safety and reduce congestion,” said MJ Maynard, RTC Deputy Chief Executive Officer. “We want the community to better understand what we do, how we do it and why we do it. With the blog, we can tell these stories in a fun yet informative way.”

Transportation continues to evolve just as the Las Vegas Valley continues to grow. To address the challenges that accompany these changes, the RTC has taken a proactive approach to create forward-thinking plans, test and implement cutting-edge technologies, undertake critically needed projects, and offer helpful services. Now with the blog, the RTC can communicate directly with Southern Nevadans on what it is doing, how it affects them and their families, and why it will improve the community overall. For example, the new blog recently highlighted the testing of electric buses over the summer and the project to install bollards at 20 bus shelters to increase public safety.

The blog can be found in the newsroom section of the RTC’s redesigned website. The RTC online newsroom is an informative outlet with various tools and materials, including press releases, photo libraries and videos. The new website also offers translation into numerous languages of all blog posts and newsroom materials. To explore the new website, visit rtcsnv.com and subscribe to the blog.
