LAS VEGAS – May is National Bike Month, and to celebrate, Southern Nevadans are invited to join the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and its partners at free events and activations throughout the month. Activities include bike repair clinics, family-friendly community rides and more that can be found at rtcsnv.com. The RTC will promote all the places where people bike while offering tips on safety and bike maintenance with the hashtags #bikepossible and #biketo.
“The RTC is excited to participate in a number of events during Bike Month as a way to engage and educate our community on the benefits of cycling and bike safety,” said RTC CEO M.J. Maynard. “We are committed to providing safe transportation options that enhance connectivity and improve quality of life for all Southern Nevada road users, including cyclists. Whether you’re riding for fun and fitness or taking essential trips to work or school, you are part of our movement to promote safer streets, reduce congestion and enjoy the benefits of a healthier planet.”
May 3: RTC Bike Booth at First Friday in the Arts District at Downtown Las Vegas, 5 to 11 p.m.
The month-long National Bike Month celebration begins on Friday, May 3 as the RTC Bike Share team hosts a booth at the popular First Friday event in downtown Las Vegas. Locals are encouraged to stop by the booth for information on the RTC Bike Share program and a free calendar of Bike Month events.
May 4: Bike Repair Clinic at RTC Bike Center, 4 to 5 p.m.
Learn the basics of bicycle maintenance from the experts at Escape Adventures during this special clinic at the RTC Bike Center inside the Bonneville Transit Center, 101 E. Bonneville Ave. Space is limited to the first 10 participants.
May 11: Community Ride at Clark County Government Center, 9 to 11 a.m.
The fun continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 when the entire community is invited to participate in a ride hosted by the Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition in partnership with the RTC, Escape Adventures, Bicycle Transit Systems and Club Ride. The 6-mile ride in downtown Las Vegas begins at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy. Las Vegas NV, 89105. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets. Online registration is required.
May 17: Bike to Work Day
The Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition encourages our community to bike to work on May 17. From 9 to 11 a.m. the Coalition, along with partners Escape Adventures, RTC Bike Share, and Club Ride, will give out helmets, maps and other bicycle safety gear at the RTC Bike Center courtyard at the Bonneville Transit Center, 101 E. Bonneville Ave.
May 17: “Commuting in Vegas” Bike Workshop at RTC Bike Center, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Get tips on commuting to work from Escape Adventures at the RTC Bike Center inside the Bonneville Transit Center, 101 E. Bonneville Ave. Learn how to dress, what to pack, safety/traffic laws and safe routes to work. The one-hour presentation is followed by a Q&A session. Space is limited to the first 10 participants.
May 18: Southwest Ridge Mountain Bike Trail Unveiling at Pedal & Pour, 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Hosted by Clark County Commissioner and RTC Chairman Justin Jones, the unveiling of the Southwest Ridge Mountain Bike Trail will be held at Pedal & Pour, 9742 W. Maule Ave, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The RTC and Club Ride will provide bike helmet giveaways and other bicycle safety gear while supplies last.
May 18: Bike Repair Clinic at RTC Bike Center, 4 to 5 p.m.

May 25: Family-Friendly Ride at Centennial Lawrence Trailhead, North Las Vegas, 9 to 11 a.m.
Rounding out the month is a family-friendly ride that begins at the Centennial Lawrence Trailhead in North Las Vegas at 9 a.m. Hosted by the RTC with partners Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition and Club Ride, the ride includes a bicycle safety demonstration before the short ride on the Upper Las Vegas Wash Trail. Participants must provide their own bikes and helmets. Online registration is required.
