If your plans for Christmas and New Year’s Eve include getting out and about, consider using transit as a stress-free alternative to avoid having to deal with traffic and parking!

Best of all, riding transit is free from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve through 9 a.m. New Year’s Day!

To eliminate traffic hassles and delays, here are quick tips:

  • Avoid driving during peak hours, which typically occur Tuesday, Dec. 26 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 27 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for Christmas week.
  • Avoid driving during peak hours, which typically occur Saturday, Dec. 30 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Tuesday, Jan. 2 between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the weekend of New Years Eve.

Things to know to help you plan your transit trip:

  • Plan ahead and purchase transit passes through the agency’s free rideRTC app.
  • Please note that RTC buses will operate on a reduced Sunday schedule on Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, and on Monday, Jan. 1. Individual route schedules are available on RTC’s webpage Transit Schedules & Maps.

For those traveling on the Strip, explore the convenience of the Deuce, operating every 15-20 minutes, 24 hours a day. It’s not only hassle-free, it’s fun and a great way to travel while enjoying the magic of the Strip during holiday time from the comfort of your seat!

Flying out for the holidays? Free parking is available at the Centennial Hills Transit Center or the South Strip Transit Terminal (SSTT), with direct access to Harry Reid International Airport’s Ground Level Zero at Terminal 1 via the Centennial Express (CX) or Route 109 Maryland Parkway.
