New service will help Las Vegans reconnect to life!

Thanks to federal stimulus funding, transit service throughout the valley is growing and expanding to help Southern Nevadans better reconnect to destinations, resources and opportunities.

The service changes, which took effect on Aug. 8, include two new routes, extensions to several existing routes and the introduction of fixed-route transit access to those who are currently unserved, including 21,000 people living at the poverty level.

The expansion was marked with a week of free community events hosted by the RTC, Aug. 1-6, and culminated on Aug. 7 with a sports-themed press conference at Las Vegas Ballpark to mark how transit is reconnecting Southern Nevadans to their lives, including the community’s growing sports offerings.

Headlining the press conference were U.S. Congresswomen Dina Titus and Susie Lee, whose work to secure federal funding facilitated the RTC’s largest geographic expansion of service since 1993. Governor Steve Sisolak, RTC Chair and Henderson Mayor Debra March, RTC Vice- Chair and Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones were also on hand, as were Clark County Commissioner Mike Naft and City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman.

As you can see, transit service expansion is a big deal!

Our state and community leaders were also joined by Dan Ventrelle, president of the Las Vegas Raiders; Don Logan, president and COO of the Las Vegas Aviators; and Jim Frevola, senior vice president and chief sales officer for the Vegas Golden Knights. Each echoed their appreciation for transit that gets both fans and workers to sports stadiums and venues throughout the community.

Adding to the fun were team mascots and cheerleaders, including Chance from Vegas Golden Knights, Raiderettes from Las Vegas Raiders, Spruce and Aviator from Las Vegas Aviators, UNLV cheerleaders, Buckets from the Las Vegas Aces, and Cash the Soccer Rocker from Las Vegas Lights!
