Food is a universal love language, and nowhere is that more true than in the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month, and what better way to celebrate than with food? Two long-time partners of the RTC’s are Asian restaurants – Fukuburger and Boran Thai Kitchen.
Fukuburger serves burgers with a Japanese twist. Fukuburger’s owner, Colin Fukunaga, has offered discounts and incentives in previous years to transit riders and drivers during events like the RTC’s Summer Heat and Transit Worker Appreciation campaigns. And to put a pickle on top of the burger, Colin himself often rides the bus to work and all around town.
Get to Fukuburger’s Chinatown location (3429 S. Jones Blvd.) via Route 203 – Spring Mountain or Route 102 – Jones and southwest location (7365 S. Buffalo Drive) via Route 212 – Sunset.
Boran Thai Kitchen serves traditional Thai cuisine in an intimate space in Mountain’s Edge Marketplace. Try the Moo Saom Chun (crispy pork belly) to start. And if you take RTC-OnDemand to Boran, show your ride receipt for a free Thai iced tea!
Get to Boran (7815 Blue Diamond Road #105) via Route 221 – Cactus and RTC-OnDemand.
Excited to try other culinary cuisines in the AAPI community? Hop off any stop between Rainbow and Valley View on Route 203 – Spring Mountain.
