The American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the transit industry’s premier trade organization, honored the RTC for security and marketing efforts at its national conference last week in Orlando, FL.

The RTC received an APTA AdWheel Award and a Grand Award against six other large-scale transit agencies in the “Best Marketing and Communications to Support Ridership or Sales” category for our partnership with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Vegas Golden Knights Express grew in popularity as the seasons went on, particularly with those in our community who were previously unfamiliar with transit. The service has since morphed into the Game Day Express to serve riders attending Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV football games.

APTA also recognized the RTC with the 2021 Gold Security Award for a large-scale transit system for our $21 million investment on security services and safety upgrades throughout the transit system. That investment has allowed us to add more lighting to bus shelters, install enhanced video surveillance cameras on buses and at facilities, and moving all available shelters farther away from traffic. And let’s not forget our more than 200 security officers who patrol transit centers, buses and shelters and five employees who staff a 24/7 command center.
