The Nevada Department of Business and Industry is home to many of the regulatory functions of the State of Nevada.  We support general business activity by overseeing 12 boards or commissions and the divisions of Real Estate, Insurance, Mortgage Lending, Financial Institutions, Industrial Relations, Housing, Attorney for Injured Workers, Office of Labor Commissioner, Taxicab Authority, Government Employee-Management Relations Board, and Nevada Transportation Authority.  A large part of Nevada’s economy depends on what the Department does and the services we offer on behalf of the state.

Our functions benefit Nevada businesses, large and small.  They also help individual consumers and disadvantaged populations.  For example, you may not know the Department is home to the Nevada Consumer Affairs Unit, including an Ombudsman of Consumer Affairs for Minorities.  It’s also home to the Commission on Minority Affairs and the Commission for Common Interest Communities and Condominium Hotels.  In these areas, the Department strives to protect consumer interests, to serve as an intermediary in resolving disputes or complaints between individuals and businesses, and to advance policy objectives consistent with statewide efforts at social and economic justice.

The Department also offers informational tools to help connect individuals and small businesses with various business support resources throughout the state.  If you are looking to start or grow a business in Nevada, the Department’s main website – www.business.nv.gov – has a Business Resource Center with free tools such as a Resource Directory, Access to Capital Directory, Learning Center, and interactive Business Startup Guide to help you with your business journey.  Accessibility versions of the Startup Guide are also available in English and Spanish.

Go online to our website at www.business.nv.gov and see what the Department of Business and Industry has to offer.  If you’re looking for Consumer Help or Homeowner Help, simply click the relevant button in the navigation bar near the top of the page to learn more.  Minority-owned, disadvantaged, and other businesses can find information on certification, contracting, or other topics by exploring the Business Resource Center.  If you want to follow the activities of the Commission on Minority Affairs, please check out its recently launched website at https://minorityaffairs.nv.gov/.

Each day, the Nevada Department of Business and Industry works hard to ensure Nevada is a great place to do business.  We encourage everyone to take advantage of our informational and other resources, and to learn more about Nevada’s robust business support ecosystem!
