Guest writer from the Comprehensive Cancer Center
Ten years ago, Comprehensive Cancer Centers (Comprehensive) initiated a skin safety awareness and complimentary sunscreen program with the aim of reducing the risk of skin cancer by promoting sun safety tips and effective preventative measures.
In 2019, RTC partnered with Comprehensive to provide free sunscreen to bus riders as part of its annual Summer Heat campaign. Together, RTC and Comprehensive have provided sunscreen to riders at Southern Nevada bus stops, transportation hubs, and key community events. Each year Comprehensive provides RTC with individual packets of sunscreen and sunscreen for cobranded dispensers.
RTC’s Mackenzie Coombs-Emery spoke with the Las Vegas Sun about the partnership with Comprehensive Cancer Centers and why it is crucial in keeping riders safe during the summer months.
In addition to RTC, in the past decade Comprehensive has established sunscreen partnerships with: City of Las Vegas, City of North Las Vegas, Clark County Parks & Recreation, City of Henderson, Las Vegas Aviators, UNLV Athletics, Las Vegas Lights FC, Vegas Golden Knights and Vegas Silver Knights, The PENTA Building Group, Downtown Summerlin and more. Comprehensive is also the official sun safety partner for the Southern Nevada affiliate of American Cancer Society.
