Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) provides mass transit that connects throughout Southern Nevada. The agency also identifies transportation challenges, explores and implements both short and long-term solutions while simultaneously promoting sustainability. The RTC received a $125,000 planning grant from the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA’s) Helping Obtain Prosperity for Everyone (HOPE) Program, which seeks to improve transportation in areas of persistent poverty. The RTC was one of 25 agencies across the country to receive a grant award.

The HOPE grant will fund a study of potential microtransit services for low-income populations currently under served by traditional public transit. The goal is to improve access to jobs, healthy food and community services, while improving transportation efficiency and access to essential services for Clark County residents who experience high barriers to meeting basic needs.
