Inventory of Regional Sustainability Planning Tools and Techniques

In the last year, there has been substantial discussion about the need for sustainability planning in Nevada. Much of these discussions have been a response to recent state legislation and action as well as public input at the local and county levels, creating new opportunities for sustainability planning in Southern Nevada.

In response, the regional planning team researched how other large regions have approached sustainability planning. The objective was to identify common approaches or frameworks for sustainability planning and to gain a better understanding of the different tools, techniques and best practices for approaching this work, either individually or regionally. This research is documented in the Inventory of Regional Sustainability Planning Tools and Techniques report, available for download below.

The report can be used by Southern Nevada’s local agencies and planning partners to help inform their work individually or collectively, and provides a foundation for future sustainability planning in the region.
