About the Study

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) Nellis Air Force Base (AFB) Transportation Study aims to address connectivity issues, improve AFB access, and bridge gaps in the multimodal network to create a transportation system that better accommodates the traffic generated by the ongoing growth near the base. The study considers existing and projected increases in traffic delay and congestion, leveraging data from the RTC’s Travel Demand Model, existing traffic data, and the previous Northeast Valley Transportation Network Study.

Study Goals

  • Promote a diverse, resilient, and growing economy
  • Provide a multi-modal transportation plan
  • Collaborate to foster a living implementation document
  • Integrate meaningful and inclusive public involvement

Study Timeline

The study is expected to be completed in August 2024. The RTC is seeking input from the public in Fall 2023 and Spring and Summer 2024.

Study Area

The study area is in North Las Vegas and Sunrise Manor including the base, as well as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It follows Union Pacific Railroad and I-15 to the west, Carey Avenue in the south, and Las Vegas Boulevard to the east.
