Things you should know about estimated arrival times

Bus arrival times are estimates based on available information and may be subject to change. The RTC recommends you re-check your arrival time every few minutes to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information.

Not all smartphone apps provide estimated arrival times. Currently, you can only view the scheduled arrival times on Google Maps. Customers are encouraged to download and use the rideRTC app for the most up-to-date information.

Use the rideRTC app and get estimated arrival times

To get started, open the rideRTC app and click on “My Bus – Transit App.” You will be prompted to download and install the “Transit” app on your phone, you will need this app in order to track your bus and get arrival times.

Does the RTC offer free Wi-Fi? How do I connect to it?2022-07-20T08:20:33-07:00

Yes! The RTC offers free Wi-Fi at all of our transit centers and while on board on our buses.

Connect to “RTC Public Wi-Fi” at the transit centers and  “RTC transit Public Wi-Fi” while on board to connect to the complimentary Wi-Fi. Just remember that you will be required to accept the terms and conditions once every 24 hours while using the Wi-Fi.

How do I know if I am viewing estimated arrivals or scheduled arrivals?2022-07-20T08:29:14-07:00

The small wave symbol located above your arrival time represents the estimated arrival time for your bus. The image below shows an example of the next three estimated Sahara Express (SX) vehicles at that stop. If you do not see the wave symbol above the time, you are seeing a scheduled bus time.

SX

For example, this is how a scheduled time will be shown on the app. Scheduled times are represented in a darker color and do not have the wave symbol located above them. It is recommended that you check back every 2-3 minutes until an estimated time becomes available.

What can I do if all my routes are showing schedule times?2022-07-21T09:25:33-07:00

First, check your mobile device to make sure it is not in airplane mode, check to make sure your device is connected to the internet or your cellular network. Try to use a Wi-Fi connection if available, don’t forget the RTC offers free public Wi-Fi at all our transit terminals and on board.

If you do use the RTC Public Wi-Fi, make sure you accept the terms and conditions after connecting you only need to do this once every 24 hours. If all else fails, try turning your phone off and back on again so it can try and make another connection to the internet.

The app says my bus is arriving now but no bus showed up?2022-07-20T08:24:29-07:00

Unfortunately, there are circumstances in which a scheduled bus may not arrive at your stop. On occasion a bus may unexpectedly break down due to a mechanical issue, may need to report back to the bus yard due to unforeseen circumstances, or the trip was canceled and not yet reported.

Should you find that a specific bus continually does not show repeatedly, please call us immediately, at 702-228-RIDE and report it to a customer care agent.

How often should I check my bus's arrival time?2024-03-27T10:58:18-07:00

We recommend you re-check your estimated arrival time every few minutes to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information. Sometimes traffic can delay a bus or longer than usual boarding times at a stop before you can make the estimated arrival time change. It's important to check up on your bus while you wait.

A bus showed up that was not listed in the app, how is that possible?2022-07-16T12:15:41-07:00

There may be times when an unscheduled bus arrives at your stop. This is due to the RTC adding additional service on a route to help provide better service during busy times. Unfortunately, that additional service is not available to be displayed within the app and a bus will show up at your stop unexpectedly.

What if I have a question or problem while using the app?2022-07-20T08:30:59-07:00
