Due to financial constraints facing our overall transit system, the RTC made the decision to discontinue the pilot program, effective Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019. Upon your return to Southern Nevada, please download the RideRTC app to explore our other transportation options on the Las Vegas Strip, including The Deuce and Strip and Downtown Express (SDX). It’s innovative, it’s affordable, and it fits up to 11 passengers! The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) celebrated the official launch of its on-demand rideshare service, Trip to Strip, in true Vegas fashion.
“Services like Trip to Strip help make travel easier for the tens of millions of visitors we welcome annually, as well as locals enjoying a night out or staycation,” said Las Vegas Mayor and RTC Board Member Carolyn Goodman. “More importantly, it positions Las Vegas on the cutting edge of innovative, viable and affordable transportation alternatives.”
Local leaders and celebrities joined a crowd of attendees at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the festivities on Tuesday, June 25. Among the crowd were Terry Fator, Chippendales, former Las Vegas Mayor and brand ambassador Oscar Goodman and his Vegas showgirls, and “O” by Cirque du Soleil performers. Speakers included Mayor Carolyn Goodman, RTC Chairman Larry Brown, Las Vegas Convention Center CEO Steve Hill and Keolis Western Regions VP of Operations Francis Julien.
“The sustainability of the RTC is contingent upon being progressive, being out in front of technology change and taking chances,” said Chairman Brown. “There’s risk involved but unless we’re willing to take that chance, then we will find ourselves so far behind the eight ball on mobility that we won’t recover.”
The rideshare service has become increasingly popular since its soft launch in May, expanding services from the Strip to downtown Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport and the M Resort. It’s gained national attention for being the largest public agency-led microtransit program of its kind in the country.
“This is one that I’m particularly proud of. I do think it’s the future of public transit,” said Tina Quigley, RTC CEO. “We owe it to our community, to our constituents, to our resorts, to our visitors, to at least play around with piloting and demonstrating all kinds of different technologies in transportation.”
Pickups and drop-offs are at the nearest RTC fixed route or paratransit stops, most of which are located near property entrances, and the zero level of McCarran International Airport. The shuttles are spacious with a limousine-style interior. The Trip to Strip app is easy to use, and there’s no surge pricing, ever.
Trip to Strip is available on Apple Store and Google Play.
