Flamingo Rd Corridor Improvements

Flamingo Rd. is a major east-to-west arterial street that connects extensive existing and planned commercial and residential development directly to the heart of the Resort Corridor and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus. The combination of large residential populations at the ends of Flamingo Road and concentrated employment at the center generates substantial commuter traffic on Flamingo Road. The existing transit line on the corridor has more than 12,000 passenger boardings daily, making it the most used residential route in the RTC’s transit system. In addition, Flamingo Road includes connections to all major north-south transportation and transit corridors for the 2 million residents of the Las Vegas valley.

Construction Updates

Week of October 31, 2016

Various Locations – Grand Canyon Drive to Boulder Highway
Intermittent temporary lane restrictions may occur to complete miscellaneous items such as repairs of median concrete, landscaping, sidewalk, signing, and bus shelter work in both directions. These closures should be very short in length and duration.

Tropicana Avenue Roadwork

Phases

Construction along Flamingo Rd. will be done in two phases.

Phase 2
Rainbow Blvd. to Hotel Rio Dr. and Eastern Ave. to Jimmy Durante Blvd.

Phase 1 – April 1, 2015 to December 2015

Work began on April 19, 2015, and included the closure of the inside lane to allow for median work, which continued for four weeks. Closures along the outside lanes will continue through December 2015.

Prior to the start of construction, residents and businesses along Flamingo Road  received general project information and continue to receive notifications via weekly construction updates on this website, the RTC’s social media channels  and via e-mail.

Phase 2 – August 2015 to October 2016

Phase 2 work between Rainbow Boulevard and Hotel Rio Drive began in August 2015 and include the closure of the inside lane to allow for median work, which will continue for two to four weeks. Once median work has been completed, closures along the outside lanes will continue through November 2016.

Overnight electrical work will be followed by bus pad and pedestrian shelter placement requiring closures along the outside lanes. Work will then move to the medians requiring inside lane restrictions through October 2016.
