Spencer Greenway Trail and UNLV Campus Bike Plan

Previous studies identified a need to provide pedestrian and bicycle improvements between Downtown Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Main Campus.  The NV Energy-owned “Spencer Utility Corridor,” which runs along segments of Spencer Street about a half mile east of Maryland Parkway, has been identified as an opportunity to improve pedestrian and bicycle travel in this area.

In July 2015, a Phase 1 Preliminary Feasibility Study was completed to assess the opportunities and challenges associated with developing a paved trail and other community enhancements in the Spencer Utility Corridor.  At the request of the City of Las Vegas, the RTC is moving forward with a Phase 2 study to further evaluate conceptual planning and design issues for a community trail and other amenities (greenway improvements, public art, trailheads, rest areas, gathering places, etc.).

In response to a request from UNLV, this study will also include a Campus Bike Plan for the UNLV Main Campus at Maryland Parkway to address the connectivity of bicycle routes and trails to the university and to identify safe and effective storage for bicycles on campus.  As part of this study, the RTC and its consultant team will solicit feedback from the surrounding community and the student body.
