As many of us stay at home to flatten the curve, there has been one advantage that you may not have seen coming – less carbon emissions in our atmosphere.

Club Ride, a free RTC program, is designed to improve air quality by encouraging the use of commuting alternatives, by encouraging and tracking the use of commuting alternatives to and from work. Since March 17, when Nevadans were directed to stay at home and practice social distancing, Club Ride has seen interesting trends in data.

As expected, the number of trips reported for carpooling by Club Ride members dropped dramatically. In the several weeks prior to the stay-at-home order, reported carpool trips averaged 233 per week. Now that number is down to an average of 39 reported carpool trips per week.

What’s even more amazing is the number of people who continued to work remotely from home. Prior to the stay-at-home order, Club Ride members reported an average of 317 telecommutes per week. Now telecommute reports average 3,834 per week – a 1,110% increase!

You could have a chance to win monthly prizes just by reporting your commute, just like Karen Rickerson recently did:
