Autumn is upon us, and it's a great time to get a refresher on transit etiquette so you don’t “fall” into bad habits. Here are some reminders on what to do and not do during your next trip on RTC transit, so you can avoid being THAT person.
Do:
* Be kind – A smile can go a long way.
* Be patient – Everyone has somewhere to go, but just know that RTC staff is working diligently to get you and other passengers to your destination safely. Please keep in mind that many things that can impact your trip such as traffic and road work are outside of the driver's control.
* Be prepared – Plan ahead and have your ticket, mobile app, or credit card ready when you board.
* Be respectful – Offer your seat to someone who may need it more, such as an elderly individual or those who are disabled, pregnant or have injuries.
Don't:
* Be a slob – Let's keep the bus clean for everyone so please refrain from eating or drinking on the bus. With the exception of water, of course, to stay hydrated in our desert heat.
*Be a smokestack – Smoking and vaping are prohibited while on the bus, so please refrain from lighting up.
* Be a hog – Don't use more seats than necessary to stow your belongings.
* Be a loudmouth – No one wants to hear your favorite tunes or the details of your doctor's appointment, so plug in your headphones and use your quiet inside voice when using the phone.
* Be a jerk – Don't threaten or attack another passenger, the driver, RTC staff, a service dog– you get the idea.
These are just a few friendly reminders. For additional suggestions, check out our entire RTC Passenger Code of Conduct
