Did you know that Las Vegas has the second hottest climate in the U.S.? According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), extreme heat events cause more serious health incidents in the U.S. than any other climate-related hazard – including tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes.

Heat-related illness is no laughing matter, and the RTC wants to help our transit riders keep cool! The RTC has worked with local agencies and partners to conduct the Southern Nevada Extreme Heat Vulnerability Analysis, and found that areas in and around Southern Nevada’s urban core and east side contain populations most vulnerable to extreme heat.

With this knowledge, the RTC is looking for ways to help our riders across the valley mitigate the effects of extreme heat, but we need your input!

We have launched a survey for our transit riders, so we can better understand how heat affects your public transit experience. Your input will help inform future measures that could be taken to make the public transit experience safer and more comfortable for you during the summer.

To thank you for you feedback, those who complete the survey will receive a FREE 24-hour pass via the rideRTC app, and will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a free 30-day transit pass that will be drawn at the end of the survey period on September 6. The 24-hour passes will be distributed every Monday directly to your rideRTC app.
