This week we are celebrating the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in several areas including employment, public accommodations, communications, transportation and more. The RTC provides paratransit services to customers with disabilities to provide equal access to public transportation.
One of RTC’s paratransit customers is Andre Collins, who rides the RTC-OnDemand service regularly. RTC-OnDemand is a ride-share transportation service in West Henderson and in the southwest Valley offering flexible ride options right at your doorstep for ADA and non-ADA customers.
We spent some time with Andre and his family and learned what access to public transportation means to them.
With access to paratransit services like RTC-OnDemand, Andre can independently get where he needs to while his family can easily track his ride from the palm of their hand on the RTC-OnDemand app.
