LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) will operate its fixed route system on a Saturday schedule on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 21.

In addition, due to road closures for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade, several detours are planned in the downtown Las Vegas area from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Downtown routes affected by the parade include:

  • Route 109, Maryland Parkway
  • Route 113, Las Vegas Boulevard North
  • Route 207, Alta/Stewart
  • Route 208, Washington
  • Route 215, Bonanza
  • Boulder Highway Express (BHX)
  • Centennial Express (CX)
  • Deuce on the Strip
  • Downtown & Veterans Medical Center Express (DVX)
  • Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX)
  • Westcliff Airport Express (WAX)

On Board, the RTC’s community engagement bus that travels the valley to get feedback on the future mobility plan for Southern Nevada, is making another appearance at this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade. RTC contractor MV Transportation retrofitted the 40’ retired bus to include workstations for the public to provide input and a children’s play area.

Transit staff, drivers, riders and supporters walked alongside the On Board bus holding “I sit with Rosa Parks” signs in the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade.
