LAS VEGAS – For the upcoming Presidents Day holiday, Monday, Feb. 15, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) will operate its fixed route transit system on a Sunday schedule. Transit customers can plan their trip using the free and easy-to-use rideRTC app.

A reminder to mask up!

As riders prepare for transit trips this holiday, the RTC reminds customers about its face mask policy. In addition to state mandate, it is now a federal mandate to wear a face mask when entering all RTC vehicles and facilities.

While face masks have been required by the RTC since June 2020 in alignment with the state mandate, the agency made some adjustments to its policy in response to the federal mandate. Updates to the policy include:

  1. Face coverings such as masks with slits or holes, scarves, bandanas and ski masks are not allowed.
  2. Riders exempt from the policy changed from those age nine and younger, to those age two and younger. Riders with an Americans with Disabilities Act-defined condition remain exempt from this policy.
  3. Failure to comply may result in denial of boarding, removal and/or penalties imposed by federal officials.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic’s onset in Southern Nevada, the RTC has spent more than $14 million to support and promote the safety of our drivers and riders through enhanced cleanings of vehicles, extended driver enclosures, real-time passenger counts and more. The RTC has also distributed more than 9,000 masks to riders in need. For more information on the RTC’s face mask policy, and how we are keeping riders safe, visit rtcsnv.com/coronavirus.
