(Las Vegas, NV) – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) encourages commuters to plan for extra travel time in anticipation of holiday events, increased travel, and adjusted transit schedules.
Special Events
Formula 1 Bridge Deconstruction – December 15-21
Three RTC transit routes will be detoured December 15-21 to accommodate the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix bridge deconstruction:
- Route 119 (Koval/Simmons): Bus Stop Closure Map
- Route 202 (Flamingo): Bus Stop Closure Map
- CX (Centennial Hills Express): Bus Stop Closure Map
Customers can access all stop closures and detour route maps by visiting the RTC’s Alerts and Detours page at rtcsnv.com/detours.
Game Day Express
Due to roadway construction and busy holiday travel, the RTC encourages Game Day Express customers to catch earlier buses for the following games:
- Las Vegas Raiders @ Allegiant Stadium
- Dec. 16: Atlanta Falcons
- Dec. 22: Jacksonville Jaguars
- Vegas Golden Knights @ T-Mobile Arena
- Dec. 19: Vancouver Canucks
- Dec. 21: Seattle Kraken
- Dec. 23: Anaheim Ducks
- Dec. 29: Calgary Flames
- Dec. 31: Montreal Canadiens
Game Day Express service for Las Vegas Raiders and Vegas Golden Knights games is available from six convenient locations around the valley. More information is available at rtcsnv.com/gamedayexpress.
Holiday Travel Forecast
Peak Travel Times
Residents and visitors traveling by car should prepare for longer trips, particularly during peak travel times. Vehicle traffic on I-15 southbound toward state line will be heaviest in the days following Christmas and New Year’s. Commuters can visit seeingorangenv.com or sign up for traffic alerts on the RTC website to access the most up-to-date traffic information.
Transit Schedules
For those traveling throughout the city during the holidays, transit is a convenient and stress-free option that eliminates the hassle of parking. Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule for transit service valley-wide on Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1.
On New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31, expect heavy traffic delays and extensive transit detours due to celebrations on the Las Vegas Strip and downtown. Individual route schedules are available on the RTC website at Transit Schedules & Maps. Transit riders can plan trips and purchase passes through the agency’s free rideRTC app or tap to pay with a debit/credit card, smartphone wallet, or smartwatch.
Free Transit Rides from 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 9 a.m. New Year’s Day
To encourage locals and visitors to take advantage of safe and convenient transit rides valley-wide, the RTC will offer free transit service from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve) through 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day). Airport Access
For those flying over the holidays, free parking is available at the Centennial Hills Transit Center or the South Strip Transit Terminal (SSTT), with direct access to Harry Reid International Airport’s Ground Level Zero at Terminal 1 via the Centennial Express (CX), Route 108 Paradise, or Route 109 Maryland Parkway. CX also services Terminal 3. Parking spots are on a first-come, first-served basis at all park-and-ride facilities.
