LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) kicks off National Transit Worker Appreciation Month today by encouraging all riders to find special ways to thank the men and women who operate, repair, clean and protect the RTC transit system. Over the next month, riders are encouraged to join the RTC in celebrating the hard-working staff who keep our community moving!

“Transit workers play a crucial role in helping to connect our community to vital resources and keep our riders safe,” said M.J. Maynard, RTC chief executive officer. “We appreciate the hard-working men and women who impact so many lives, day after day, and we thank them for providing an essential service to our residents and visitors.”

Here are several ways riders can thank transit workers during their commute:

  • Give a card or a personal note to your bus operator or security officer.
  • A cheery “good morning” can go a long way and a “thank you” when exiting the bus will make their day!
  • Post a photo or video thanking RTC transit workers and use the hashtags #TeamTransitWorker and #RTCSNV.

Additionally, on Wednesday, March 23, the RTC will be at the Bonneville Transit Center, 101 E. Bonneville Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., passing out thank you cards for riders to share kind messages with drivers, mechanics, custodians and security officers. The RTC encourages customers and community members to stop by and fill out a thank you card while trying their hand at winning RTC branded giveaways or 24-hour bus passes.
