RTC Bike Share has expanded with new stations since the system was first established in 2016.

In partnership with the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD), a new station at Martin Luther King Blvd. and Alta Drive, in front of The Neon Apartments was ceremoniously added during National Bike Month.

The new station location was selected through a community survey of over 1,500 residents and RTC Bike Share users, to provide a link between downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Medical District. The new station design is more streamlined, which allows for more flexibility, less space and provides energy savings.

A second station was added in July at the newly opened The English Hotel on Main Street, just steps away from the Arts District.

The RTC Bike Share system features a mix of 200 classic and electric bikes available for checkout 24/7, 365 days a year in and around downtown Las Vegas.

Ridership has steadily increased since its launch and is expected to reach 200,000 total rides by the end of the year, according to Ryan McKell, RTC’s Active Transportation Outreach Coordinator.

“We are excited about expanding to new downtown destinations. RTC Bike Share is a great option for downtown commuting or exploring, and our popular e-bikes make biking more accessible to a wider audience,” McKell said.

RTC Bike Share is expected to continue to expand in the upcoming year through local partnerships and federal funding. The SNHD plans to use future grant funding from the CDC’s Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program to support station expansion, and a federal earmark of nearly $150,000 is expected to fund two or more stations and over 20 e-bikes.
