LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is celebrating five years of bike share service in the downtown Las Vegas community and offering unique experiences and incentives all month long.

An easy way for residents and tourists to ride to and from the many attractions, restaurants, bars and shops downtown Las Vegas has to offer, RTC Bike Share has enjoyed great success in its first five years of service. With 21 convenient stations and over 200 bikes, the program has continued to grow its fan base since inception. To date, bike share riders have completed nearly 167,000 trips, while burning more than 38.5 million calories. Over the last five years, pass holders have ridden nearly 964,000 miles, removing 1.3 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from our valley’s atmosphere.

“In 2016, we launched the RTC Bike Share program with the intention of creating a new and fun transportation option for our residents and visitors in downtown Las Vegas,” said David Swallow, RTC deputy chief executive officer. “Five years later, we’ve seen bike share become a part of local residents’ lifestyle and a cemented part of the downtown Las Vegas experience. We want to thank our community for embracing bike share and making sustainable transportation choices.”

Starting Friday Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 31, residents can experience downtown Las Vegas on a bike by taking advantage of a special $5 promo for all Explorer (30-day) passes, which are normally priced at $15. Customers can use promo code RTCBIKE5 during check-out.

To reward RTC Bike Share customers during the anniversary month, all riders will also be entered to win a branded Jabba Bluetooth speaker each week. Riders can also enter to win the grand prize of two lower-level tickets to the upcoming Vegas Golden Knights game on Nov. 9 against the Seattle Kracken by posting a photo of their ride on their public social media channels and tagging @RTCSNV and #RTCBIKE5.

To experience all of the unique elements downtown Las Vegas has to offer, customers can participate in weekly self-guided tours that will be released through the RTC Blog and the RTC’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels. The weekly tours will focus on coffee joints, unique restaurants, and entertainment, with the first one available today featuring art murals. Details on the self-guided tours are available here

To close up the month of celebrations, a spooky-themed bike will be available during Halloween weekend, Oct. 29-31. Riders will be given clues on the RTC’s Instagram channel to locate the pop-up themed bike.
