LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is introducing five electric pedal-assist bikes to the existing RTC Bike Share program for a limited time.

Starting March 4 through March 18, RTC Bike Share will test an e-bike program with five electric pedal-assist bikes added to its existing 180 classic bikes inventory. Branded with green lightning bolts, the electric bikes are powered by a front wheel pedal-assist motor that allows riders to overcome elevation obstacles and make commutes quicker with speeds up to 17 miles per hour.

Easy to find at any of the 21 bike share locations in downtown Las Vegas, the electric bikes are available for the same price as classic bikes. Riders can purchase a 24-hour pass for $5 or 3-day pass for $10 at any bike share kiosk. Monthly passes are also available online for $20.

After March 18, the RTC will evaluate ridership and feedback to consider whether electric bikes should be added to the bike share program.

RTC Bike Share is an easy way for residents and tourists to ride to and from the many attractions, restaurants, bars and shops the downtown area has to offer. Riders can also easily connect to the numerous RTC transit lines through the Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas.
