This week, On the Road will be visiting the City of Las Vegas, which recently invested approximately $5.8 million for improvements associated with its Downtown Pedestrian Safety Program.
The overall project includes new security bollards, pedestrian flashers, and traffic signal systems with street lighting at the intersections of:
- Fremont & Main
- Fremont & 1st
- Fremont & Casino Center
- Fremont & 3rd
- Fremont & 4th
- First & Stewart
As part of this project, there were approximately 200 bollards and four vehicular crash gates installed to improve pedestrian safety and prevent errant vehicles from entering the Fremont Street area during shows and special events, where 25 million tourists visit annually. The project is part of the city’s ongoing pedestrian safety improvement plan.
