Grab your sunscreen and water, and get outdoors this Saturday, June 11 for National Get Outdoors (GO) Day! GO Day is an annual event that encourages the community, especially youth, to seek out healthy, active outdoor lives and embrace our parks and other public lands.

Wondering where to go for National GO Day? Check out one of these local gems that are all accessible via RTC transit:

Cowabunga Bay – accessible via Route 212 (Sunset)

Cowabunga Canyon – accessible via Route 120 (Fort Apache/Rampart)

Las Vegas’ #1 waterpark Cowabunga Bay has been keeping locals cool since 2014. Spanning 23 acres, the water park features more than 25 water slides and attractions, including a wave pool, an endless river, kids’ play area, splash pools, and several other unique water slides.

Cowabunga Canyon, formerly Wet ‘n Wild, opened this past Memorial Day weekend, and it’s another a perfect place to visit this weekend as we expect to see triple-digit temperatures. The updated water park features a 60-foot freefall on Canyon Cliffs. Can you think of a more exciting way to beat the heat?

Craig Ranch Regional Park – accessible via Route 219 (Craig)

Since 2013, the 170-acre Craig Ranch Park has been a community hotspot in the North Las Vegas area. This park features multiple playgrounds centered around a pond, along with three dog parks, picnic areas, several sporting areas, an amphitheater for concerts and events, and a 65,000-square-foot skate park.

Mountain’s Edge Regional Park accessible with RTC-OnDemand service

One of the top-rated parks in the southwest valley, Mountain’s Edge Regional Park offers various amenities such as lacrosse, soccer, handball, and other sporting areas. Spend a day with family eating lunch at the picnic area, or utilize the fitness area, and multiple playgrounds for both toddlers and older children. For those up for a brisk hike, Mountain’s Edge is most popular for its beautiful desert mountain views you can enjoy on a 2.3-mile loop trail.

Sunset Park – accessible via Route 212 (Sunset), Route 110 (Eastern) and Route 217 (Warm Springs/Downtown Henderson)

Sunset Park is the crown jewel of Clark County’s park system and has been since 1967. The largest park in the region, Sunset Park offers a vast array of amenities for the whole family including a fishing pond, softball fields, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, a 27-hole disc-golf court, 31 picnic areas, and a dog park!

Springs Preserve – accessible via Route 104 (Valley View) and Route 207 (Alta/Stewart)

Las Vegas Springs Preserve, owned and operated by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, consists of 180 acres of attractions. Featuring vibrant botanical gardens, wetland habitats, traveling exhibits, trails, galleries, the Springs Preserve is also home to the Nevada State Museum.

Celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Springs Preserve this month, by participating in one of their many planned events.
