On December 16, 2019, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) notified the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) that it issued a “Finding of No Significant Impact” (FONSI) for the Maryland Parkway High Capacity Transit Project based on the environmental assessment review. The FONSI documents the FTA's conclusion that the project would not produce significant impacts to the surrounding environment.
The environmental assessment included information about the preferred alternative for the project, its benefits and impacts, environmental analyses, and responses to all public comments received. The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 requires that all projects that receive federal funding complete an environmental review process.
The project can proceed into the final design and construction phases. The RTC anticipates that construction will begin in 2022, with the new transit service starting in 2025.
