Transit riders, motorists should plan for detours Sunday, Nov. 3 from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(Las Vegas, NV) – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is detouring 23 of its 39 transit routes to accommodate street closures for the inaugural Las Vegas Marathon, half marathon and the 7.02-mile run on Sunday, Nov. 3, from approximately 3 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Motorists and transit riders should plan for extra travel time near the race route as cars and buses will not be able to cross Charleston intersections from Summerlin to downtown Las Vegas.
In addition to the 23 transit routes that will be detoured, routes 101, 102, 103, 120, and 121 will be split into two sections at Charleston, requiring some riders to walk up to one mile to continue their trip on a different bus. Please consider using other routes or avoid travel in this area during the Marathon event.
All races begin at 6 a.m. and run in the eastbound travel lanes of Charleston Blvd., ending at Fremont Street Experience. The Marathon begins at the Sandstone Quarry Overlook at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and runs through Downtown Summerlin, Symphony Park and the 18b Arts District; the Half-Marathon begins at Merialdo Lane and Charleston Blvd., just west of Durango Dr., and the 702 begins at Strong Dr. and Charleston Blvd. just west of Rancho Dr.
