Big things are happening on Boulder Highway, and you’re invited to make your mark on one of our region’s most iconic roads! The Boulder Highway corridor is undergoing a transformation to become a safer, more accessible place for everyone—whether you’re driving, biking, walking, or rolling. And it’s all starting in Henderson’s portion of the corridor.

What's Happening?

Construction has kicked off on the Reimagine Boulder Highway project, which promises to bring exciting changes like bus-rapid transit (BRT), better lighting, wider sidewalks, separated bike lanes, and more pedestrian crossings. To capitalize on these investments, the City of Henderson, in partnership with the RTC, recently began a planning study aimed at improving walking, biking, and transit connections to the corridor, as well as planning for new development around the BRT stations.

And guess what? Your voice matters! To ensure these improvements truly benefit the community, Henderson is hosting Walk and Bike Audits on September 24 and 25.

What’s a Walk/Bike Audit?

Think of it as a neighborhood stroll with a purpose! You’ll walk or bike a mile-long route with other locals, checking out how easy (or tough) it is to get around the Boulder Highway corridor. You’ll be led by staff from the City of Henderson and joined by Jeff Speck, a big name in walkability, as well as other community members. Your feedback will help shape the future of transportation in Henderson.

Never done a walk audit? Don’t worry, a virtual training will be held a week before the scheduled audits to help get you prepared.

How Can You Join?

Spots are limited to 20 participants per audit, so RSVP soon! There are four different routes to choose from over two days. Each of the four routes are approximately one mile from start to finish, and were designed to be suitable for those of all mobility levels, so everyone can participate.

Bottled water will be provided, and there will be short breaks along the routes, but make sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring sun protection. Transportation back to your starting point will be provided.
