Guest writer from HopeLink of Southern Nevada
Nevada faces a severe affordable housing crisis, with a shortage of 90,000 units and rents 33% higher than in 2019. Over 86,000 households are at risk of eviction, particularly low-income seniors and families who struggle to afford rent alongside other essential expenses. HopeLink of Southern Nevada is committed to addressing these challenges by providing a continuum of services, including rental and utility assistance, homelessness prevention, and employment support through CareerLink.
HopeLink's impact is clear: fewer than 5% of clients require additional support within two years of receiving assistance. Despite this success, the need continues to grow, with 16,000 Nevadans expected to face homelessness this year. For families like Sharon Wells, who faced financial hardship despite careful planning, HopeLink has been a lifeline.
To meet rising demand, HopeLink is expanding services through initiatives like Hope4Seniors, additional facilities, and increased strategic funding. However, this effort requires the support of corporate, private, and government partners. Join us in November for our Evening of Hope to raise funds and ensure we Keep Nevada Housed. Please reach out to Ryan Henson at [email protected] for more information on the event.
