Get ready to board through the front doors once again with your fare handy

As our state begins to reopen following the COVID-19 pandemic, we are resuming front door boardings beginning Sunday, June 7. We are reminding our riders to have their bus fare handy in order to avoid delays as we continue to practice social distancing.

Customers will be able to access the farebox in the front of the bus to pay fare, or they can purchase a paperless pass via the rideRTC mobile app. We are encouraging customers to take advantage of digital passes on rideRTC for a quick and touchless boarding option. The free app is available for download from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

We’ve come a long way to flatten and the curve and we don’t want to regress so we continue to encourage our riding public to wear face coverings. We also plan to keep the following safety measures in place until further notice:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting all RTC fixed route and paratransit vehicles daily
  • Providing more space on routes by incorporating as many larger, 60-foot or double-decker buses as possible, even on routes that do not typically need them
  • Reducing close-proximity seating on buses with signs on seats that prompt riders to sit farther apart
  • Promoting social distancing in our transit centers with limited customer presence (10 max) and a 10-minute limit per customer

Don’t forget that residential transit routes are still operating on a Sunday schedule. We’ll keep you posted on when that’ll change.

Happy and safe riding! We will always be #InItTogether.
