Did you know that July through September is flash flood season in Southern Nevada? The Clark County Regional Flood Control District (The District) held its annual press conference in late June to kick off the season and inform the community about the progress of flood control.
To help people better understand the dangers of flash floods, The District is taking a grass roots approach to educate the community about how flood control works, its impact on the community, and some safety tips be mindful of. Believe it or not, half of all flood-related deaths are caused by people attempting to drive though moving water.

The next time you get a flash flood warning, remember Drainger Dangers says, Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Help boost awareness by sharing images and videos with the hashtags #WaterAlwaysWins and #TurnAroundDontDrown.

This summer, be on the lookout for grass roots outreach teams at various community events looking to engage and educate about this campaign.
