Las Vegas in the summer is no joke! With temperatures reaching record highs of 120°F, it's crucial to stay cool and safe. The heat can be dangerous if you're not prepared, but don't worry, we've got you covered with some easy tips to beat the heat. Staying hydrated and protecting yourself from the sun are key to enjoying your summer in our community.
Here are some essential tips to stay safe:
💧 Drink Lots of Water: Keep a water bottle with you and sip regularly, even if you’re not thirsty.
🧢 Wear a Hat and Sunglasses: Protect your head and eyes from the intense sun.
🏠 Stay Indoors During Peak Hours: Avoid being outside between 10 AM and 4 PM when the sun is strongest.
🌳 Find Shade: If you have to be outside, take breaks in the shade.
👚 Wear Light Clothing: Light-colored, loose-fitting clothes help keep you cool.
🚶♂️ Plan Activities Early or Late: Exercise or do outdoor activities in the early morning or evening.
🚗 Never Leave Kids or Pets in Cars: Cars can heat up fast, putting lives at risk.
The Summer Heat Outreach Team is out twice a week handing out ice-cold water, sunscreen, and other resources to help keep our community hydrated and safe. For a schedule on where you can find the Summer Heat Outreach Team and for more safety tips, visit RTC's Summer Heat webpage.
