Join artist and podcaster Justin Favela as he records an episode of The Art People Podcast to a live audience in the Historic Fifth Street School Auditorium, 401 S. 4th St. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m. The episode will feature Latinx authors, artists and poets discussing “The House on Mango Street” novel and his Fruits of Our Labor exhibition. Visit award-winning international artist Justin Favela’s Fruits of Our Labor exhibit at the Mayor’s Gallery, Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St., Tuesday-Friday, 2 to 6 p.m. This art show is inspired by Mexican still-life fruit of the 19th century, and by Sandra Cisneros’ vignette “The Monkey Garden” from her award-winning book, “The House on Mango Street.” Justin Favela created piñata-style depictions of fruit objects in both two- and three-dimensional forms. Experience the Versions of a Family Ofrenda Exhibition at the Charleston Heights Arts Center Gallery, 800 S. Brush St., from Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This exhibit displays a Day of the Dead ofrenda, which is an alter to pay resect and remember those who have passed away.
