A step toward safer, accessible connections

Exciting changes are coming to Carson Avenue! Starting Wednesday, Jan. 15, work will begin on improvements as part of the Maryland Parkway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. Running through the heart of downtown Las Vegas, this project is set to bring safer, more comfortable, and accessible connections to the community.

Construction kicks off on the south side of Carson Avenue between 9th Street and Maryland Parkway, gradually moving west toward 7th Street. Enhancements include wider sidewalks, shared bus-bike lanes, better lighting, increased shade, and new hydrogen buses. These updates will improve safety and provide faster, more frequent public transportation while boosting access to jobs and destinations.

Businesses along Carson Avenue remain open and accessible during construction, so don’t let the orange cones keep you away! While street parking will be unavailable, designated parking lots are ready for use.

Crews have a big task ahead, starting with underground utilities like storm drains and gas lines before tackling sidewalks, streetlights, and trees. Stay patient and informed by subscribing to updates at MarylandParkway.com!
