Two years ago, two high-traffic intersections in the Historic Westside were upgraded to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow. City of Las Vegas Councilman Cedric Crear was a strong advocate for both of these projects and has many other plans for upgrades in Ward 5. Councilman Crear also says that the City of Las Vegas is working toward a goal of zero fatalities called, “Vision Zero.” Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries. Currently, they are developing their action plan for this multi-phased endeavor. The vision will focus on nine key components: political commitment, multi-disciplinary leadership, action plans, equity, cooperation, system-based approaches, data-driven decision making, community engagement and transparency.
