RTC CEO Tina Quigley invites you to celebrate Infrastructure Week, May 13 – 20.
From May 13-20, Southern Nevada will be in the spotlight for National Infrastructure Week 2019, now in its 7th year. In coordination with the nonprofit organization, the RTC will kick of the week with a Western Summit on Monday, May 13, 7:30 a.m. at the Springs Preserve Central Desert Complex.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Deputy Assistant Secretary David Short and Nevada DOT Director Kristina Swallow will open the event. A roundtable discussion featuring ITS America President Shailen Bhatt, Washington DOT Secretary of Transportation Roger Millar and other national speakers will follow about smart communities and how technology and innovation are solving today’s transportation challenges. The RTC and its partners will again host Careers in Motion on Wednesday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dallas Ballroom at Texas Station Hotel and Casino. The event will provide conditional on-site hiring opportunities and educate attendees on what it takes to launch a career in the transit, construction, engineering and design industries that help build Southern Nevada’s infrastructure of tomorrow.
This year, the event will feature a lunchtime panel discussion featuring Dr. Federico Zaragoza, President and CEO of the College of Southern Nevada, Jaime Cruz, Workforce Connections Executive Director and representatives from key industries.
The event will also include opportunities to meet one-on-one with representatives from various training programs, labor unions and employers as well as conditional on-site hiring.

As the week focuses on “Build for Tomorrow Now,” Southern Nevada’s celebrations will culminate with a special Latin Chamber of Commerce event at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino on Friday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A dedicated panel, Clean Energy | Our Economy, Transportation and Future, featuring U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, Ray Fakhoury of Advanced Energy Economy, and experts in transportation and energy will discuss the importance of the clean energy economy and the key role that it plays in social and economic development and vitality. And local businesses will gain a better understanding of how to work with companies engaged in building clean energy infrastructure during an expo from 9 – 11:45 a.m.
