December 2, 2018 Service Change

To better serve our transit customers, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is pleased to bring riders a number of upgrades to its fixed route system beginning Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018.

Common Abbreviations and Definitions:

  • EB: Eastbound
  • WB: Westbound
  • NB: Northbound
  • SB: Southbound
  • On-Time Performance: Timeliness, reliability
  • Span of service: the hours of the day (and days of week) that a transit route operates –for example, if the first trip on a route begins at 4:30 a.m. and the last trip begins at 1 a.m., the span of service is 4:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.  Only span changes of 20 minutes or more are noted below.
  • Frequent Service: a minimum of every 15 minutes or better during weekday daytime hours and every 20 minutes or better during evenings & weekends.
  • Daytime: Approximately 5:30 a.m. / 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. / 7 p.m.

Route Information

 

Route 101 – Rainbow:

  • Increase weekday & Saturday evening frequency to every 30 minutes until 9 p.m. SB / 10:30 p.m. NB (current frequency is every 45-50 minute after 7:30 p.m. SB / 9 p.m. NB).
  • Increase Saturday afternoon frequency to a consistent 30 minutes (current frequency is every 32 minutes).
  • Schedule changes.

Route 102 – Jones:

  • Extend the 12:14 a.m. NB trip to end at Craig & Jones (full trip). This trip currently ends at Cheyenne instead.  Otherwise, no changes.

Route 103 – Decatur:

  • Increase weekday morning frequency to every 20 minutes beginning at 5 a.m. SB / 6 a.m. NB (current frequency is mostly every 27 minutes on weekday mornings).
    • With this increase, frequency will be a consistent 20 minutes throughout weekday daytime hours.
  • Increase NB evening frequency to every 30 minutes until midnight (current frequency is every 35-48 minutes after 11 p.m.).
  • Modify overnight trip times to improve transfer connections with key east/west routes.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 104 – Valley View / Arville:

  • No changes

Route 105 – Martin L. King:

  • Increase weekday morning frequency to every 20 minutes (current frequency is every 30 minutes).
    • With this increase, frequency will be a consistent 20 minutes throughout weekday daytime hours.
  • North end layover time slightly reduced to improve convenience for customers traveling through the loop.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 106 – Rancho / Centennial Hills:

  • Increase evening frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is mostly every 60 minutes) from approximately 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on weekdays & Saturdays.
    • This will result in two-way service continuing in Centennial Hills until about 10 p.m. Monday – Saturday, with Routes 106A & 106B both operating.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 108 – Paradise:

  • Modify the 5:27 a.m. SB Saturday & 5:54 a.m. NB Saturday trips to arrive one minute later at each timepoint; otherwise, no changes.

Route 109 – Maryland Pkwy:

  • Minor schedule changes

Route 110 – Eastern:

  • Minor schedule changes

Route 111 – Pecos / Green Valley Pkwy:

  • Timing modifications to late evening trips to improve transfer connections from other routes.

Route 113 – Las Vegas Blvd. North:

  • Elimination of service to O’Callaghan Hospital between about 6 a.m. & 7:30 a.m. due to extremely low ridership. First trips to O’Callaghan Hospital will arrive there at about 7:35 – 7:40 a.m. each day.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 115 – Nellis / Stephanie:

  • Extend all daytime & evening trips into Henderson. This results in every 20 minute daytime frequency along Stephanie, seven days a week, with evening service every 30 minutes.  Current frequency south of Russell is every 40 minutes during daytime hours & hourly in the evenings.
    • Mtn. Vista turnaround eliminated; nearest bus stops for Route 115 will be along Nellis. Route 201 will also remain available on Tropicana.
    • SECTA students are advised to use Route 212 –Sunset for closest transit access.
  • South end layover point for half of daytime trips will now be at Gibson & Mary Crest, instead of Stephanie & Horizon Ridge. This will make service within the south end loop more convenient by eliminating the need to wait through a layover for some customers.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 117 – Las Vegas Blvd. South / Silverado Ranch:

  • No changes.

Route 119 – Simmons / Koval:

  • Additional NB weekdays trip added beginning around 7 p.m. This results in the transition from 30 minute to hourly NB frequency now occurring one hour later.
  • Span of service increase: additional SB weekdays trip added beginning around 4:30 a.m. This results in SB service now starting 30 minutes earlier each weekday morning. 
  • Minor schedule changes.

Route 120 – Fort Apache / Rampart:

  • Increase Saturday daytime frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is every 60 minutes) beginning at 6 a.m. NB / 7 a.m. SB.
  • Additional SB weekdays trip added beginning around 6:30 p.m. This results in the transition from 30 minute to hourly SB frequency now occurring one hour later.
  • Minor schedule changes.

Route 121 – Durango / Buffalo:

  • Additional SB weekdays trip added beginning around 6:30 p.m. This results in the transition from 30 minute to hourly SB frequency now occurring one hour later.
  • Span of service decrease: elimination of 4:21 a.m. NB weekends & holidays trip due to extremely low ridership. This results in NB service now starting approximately one hour later each weekend & holiday morning, at 5:15 a.m. 
  • Very minor schedule changes.

Route 122 – S. Maryland Pkwy / Horizon Ridge:

  • Span of service decrease: elimination of 12:31 a.m. NB trip due to extremely low ridership. This results in NB service now ending one hour earlier each night, with the last NB trip of the evening beginning at 11:31 p.m.
  • Eliminate 6:16 p.m. NB weekdays trip due to extremely low ridership. This results in the transition from 30 minute to hourly NB frequency now occurring one hour earlier.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 201 – Tropicana:

  • Span of service decrease: Route 201B service will no longer operate 24 hours a day.
    • The first EB Route 201B trip will begin at 3:18 a.m. each day, and the last EB Route 201B trip will begin at 12:16 a.m. nightly. No EB Route 201B service during the 1 a.m. & 2 a.m. hours.
    • The first WB Route 201B trip will begin at 3:42 a.m. each day, and the last WB Route 201B trip will begin at 11:40 p.m. nightly. No WB Route 201B service during the midnight, 1 a.m., & 2 a.m. hours.
    • Route 201A will continue operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Overall Route 201 frequency during overnight hours will remain every 30 minutes.

Route 202 – Flamingo:

  • New timepoint added at Paradise to provide more precise information to customers.
  • Due to low ridership, 3:30 a.m. EB daily trip modified to begin at Rainbow (at 3:42 a.m.), rather than at Grand Canyon & Rochelle. This results in EB frequency of once an hour west of Rainbow during the 3 a.m. hour.
  • Very minor schedule changes.

Route 203 – Spring Mtn. / Desert Inn / Lamb:

  • A small number of trips each day will now start & end at Desert Inn & Fort Apache, rather than at the typical west end terminus at Town Center & Twain. Otherwise, no changes. 

Route 206 – Charleston:

  • Increase Saturday late morning & afternoon frequency to every 15 minutes (current frequency is every 20 minutes).
  • Modify WB routing approaching BTC, to take advantage of completed road construction; exact routing as follows:
    • From WB Charleston, north on Main Street, east on Garces, enter BTC Bay 6, and resume current routing.
  • Schedule changes on Saturdays.

Route 207 – Alta / Stewart:

  • Routing modification in the Downtown area to make trips faster & improve On-Time Performance; exact routing as follows:
    • Eastbound: from NB Shadow Lane, travel east on Alta / Bonneville and service BTC at new Bay 17b on EB Bonneville just west of Casino Center. Then, continue east on Bonneville, north on 4th, east on Stewart, and resume current routing.
    • Westbound: from WB Stewart, travel south on Las Vegas Blvd., west on Clark, and south on Casino Center to service Bay 18 at BTC. Then, continue south on Casino Center, west on Garces, north on Main, west on Bonneville / Alta, and resume current routing.
    • Bus stops along Main Street between Bonneville & Stewart will no longer be served by Route 207, but service at those stops will remain available on Routes 106, 208, & 214. Route 207 will now also serve bus stops along 4th Street & Las Vegas Blvd.
  • Minor schedule changes.

Route 208 – Washington:

  • Begin what becomes the 6:23 a.m. WB weekdays trip at EB Washington & Nellis, before serving the Sloan loop, at 6:14 a.m. This provides service to customers within the east end loop on this trip.

Route 209 – Vegas . Owens:

  • Minor schedule changes

Route 210 – Lake Mead Blvd:

  • Increase weekday daytime frequency to every 20 minutes (current frequency is every 21-28 minutes).
  • Increase early morning (approx. 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.) weekday frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is every 35-40 minutes).
  • Increase Saturday late morning & afternoon frequency to every 25 minutes (current frequency is every 27-30 minutes).
  • Increase Saturday early morning (approx. 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.) frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is every 34-36 minutes).
  • Schedule changes.

Route 212 – Sunset:

  • Minor schedule changes.

Route 214 – H & D Streets:

  • Minor schedule changes.

Route 215 – Bonanza:

  • Minor schedule changes & timing adjustments to improve reliability.

Route 217 – Warm Springs / Downtown Henderson:

  • Make permanent a routing modification that was implemented in September 2018 due to an NDOT I-215 lane configuration change. Exact routing as follows:
    • Eastbound: from EB Warm Springs, travel south on Gibson, east on Auto Show, south on Eastgate, east on Lake Mead Pkwy, and resume current routing.
    • Westbound: from WB Lake Mead Pkwy, travel north on Eastgate, west on Auto Show, north on Gibson, west on Warm Springs, and resume current routing.
    • Bus stops along Gibson south of Auto Show Drive will no longer be served by Route 217. However, service remains available with Route 115 at stops on southbound Gibson south of American Pacific.
  • Span of service decrease: elimination of 12:11 a.m. WB trip due to extremely low ridership. This results in WB service now ending one hour earlier each night, with the last WB trip of the evening beginning at 11:11 p.m.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 218 – Cheyenne:

  • Increase Saturday morning frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is hourly).
  • Additional weekday trip added in each direction beginning during the 6 p.m. hour. This results in the transition from 30 minute to hourly frequency now occurring one hour later.
  • Increase Saturday late afternoon frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is hourly after 5 p.m. EB).
  • Increase Sunday afternoon frequency to every 45 minutes (current frequency is hourly).
  • Span of service increase: additional Saturday trip added in each direction beginning around 4:35 a.m. This results in service now starting approx. 30 minutes earlier each Saturday morning. 
  • Timing adjustments to improve early evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon On-Time Performance.
  • Schedule changes.

Route 219 – Craig:

  • Increase Sunday morning frequency to every 35 minutes (current frequency is hourly).
  • Span of service increases:
    • Additional EB weekdays trip added beginning at 4:15 a.m. This results in EB service now starting 30 minutes earlier each weekday morning. 
    • Additional EB nightly trip added beginning at 1:08 a.m. This results in EB service now continuing one hour later at night.
    • Additional Saturday trips added in both directions beginning around 4:20 a.m. This results in service in both directions now starting about 50 minutes earlier each Saturday morning.
  • Additional weekday trips added in each direction beginning around 5 a.m. This results in the transition from less frequent to 30 minute frequency now occurring 30 minutes earlier on weekdays.
  • Increase Saturday early morning frequency to every 30 minutes (current frequency is hourly until 7 a.m. EB / 6 a.m. WB).
  • Most WB Saturday trips will now continue as Route 101 at the west end, similar to weekdays.

Deuce on the Strip:

  • Schedule changes.

SDX – Strip & Downtown Express:

  • Make permanent a minor SB routing adjustment that has already occurred near the Arts District, due to Main Street now being one-way only NB; exact routing as follows:
    • From SB Casino Center (becomes Third south of Charleston), travel west on Imperial, south on Commerce, veer left after Wyoming, south on Main Street, and resume current routing.
  • SDX service along Grand Central Pkwy will now end at approximately 10 p.m. nightly (Grand Central service currently ends at 11 p.m.).
    • Several other routes remain available for customers near Grand Central & Bonneville between 10 & 11 p.m.
  • Schedule changes.

BHX – Boulder Hwy Express:

  • Increase Saturday afternoon frequency to every 15 minutes (current frequency is every 20 minutes).
  • Additional weekdays & Saturdays trips added in both directions during the 10 p.m. hour. This results in the transition from 20 minute to 30 minute frequency now occurring one hour later at night, Monday through Saturday.
  • Additional SB Saturday trip added during the 4 a.m. hour. This results in the transition from hourly to 30 minute SB Saturday frequency now occurring one hour earlier.
  • Service to CSN Henderson on weekdays will now end one hour earlier. Last trip will depart CSN at 10:05 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Schedule changes.

CX – Centennial Express:

  • Elimination of SB weekday trip that begins at 7:06 a.m. Trips before & after it will now be adjusted to provide approximately every 30 minute frequency.
    • SB weekday departures from Centennial Hills around this time will be at 6:24 a.m., 6:53 a.m., 7:19 a.m., 7:53 a.m., & 8:24 a.m.
  • Schedule changes.

DVX – Downtown & Veteran’s Medical Center Express:

  • 30 minute NB frequency on weekdays will now continue approximately one hour later in the evenings, until 7 p.m.
  • Schedule changes.

HDX – Henderson & Downtown Express:

  • Elimination of current 5:57 a.m. NB weekdays trip. This results in consistent hourly NB frequency during morning hours.
  • Late evening NB trips that currently end at Boulder Hwy & Palo Verde (Greenway) will be modified to instead end at Horizon & College. Connections to the BHX & Route 217 will remain available.
  • Schedule changes due to the completion of roadwork associated with I-11 construction.

SX – Sahara Express:

  • The first SX-A WB trip of the morning on weekdays & Saturdays will now begin at Nellis & Charleston instead of Hollywood & Lake Mead. This results in the first SX-A WB trip serving Hollywood & Lake Mead beginning at 5:17 a.m. on weekdays / 5:36 a.m. on Saturdays.
  • The last SX-A EB trip of the evening will now end at Nellis & Sahara instead of Hollywood & Lake Mead. This results in the last SX-A EB trip serving Hollywood & Lake Mead departing Boulder Hwy at 10:26 p.m. on weekdays / 10:36 p.m. on Saturdays.
  • Very minor schedule changes.

WAX – Westcliff Airport Express:

  • Timing changes to eliminate a conflict with Fremont Street Experience light show closures of SB Casino Center Blvd.
  • Elimination of one EB / SB weekday trip between 5 p.m. & 7 p.m.; EB / SB weekday trips will now begin at 4:31 p.m., 5:01 p.m., 5:45 p.m., & 6:48 p.m.
  • Addition of a timepoint at McCarran Airport Terminal 1.
  • Schedule changes.
