Construction Schedule

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – Week of May 23, 2016

Grand Canyon Parkway to I-215
Roadway resurfacing will require various double left-lane and double right-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions for two weeks. This work is needed to lower underground utilities, install traffic signal loops, and place asphalt.

Decatur Boulevard to Jones Boulevard
Median concrete work will begin with left-lane closures in both directions from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for two weeks.

Eastern Avenue to Boulder Highway
Bus shelter work will continue requiring a right-lane closure in the eastbound direction for approximately one week. Electrical work will also continue during nighttime and daytime hours in both directions requiring intermittent right-lane closures. Two lanes in each direction will remain open at all times.

Koval Lane to Paradise Road
Roadway resurfacing will require various double left-lane and double right-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions for five weeks. This work is needed to lower underground utilities, install traffic signal loops, and place asphalt.

Paradise Road to Eastern Avenue
Roadway resurfacing will require various double left-lane and double right-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions for two months. This work is needed to lower underground utilities, install traffic signal loops, and place asphalt.

Eastern Avenue to Boulder Highway
Bus shelter work will continue requiring a right-lane closure in the eastbound direction for approximately one week. Safety/ Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) work will require various right-lane closures during daytime hours. Electrical work will also continue during nighttime and daytime hours in both directions requiring intermittent right-lane closures. Two lanes in each direction will remain open at all times.

Pecos Road to Mojave Road
Clark County Water Reclamation District sewer work continues with a 24-hour westbound right-lane closure through June 10.

Boulder Highway to Mountain Vista Street
Work by Southwest Gas will require a 24-hour westbound right-lane closure through May 27.

Detours and temporary stops are in place for the following stops:

918 US 95 off-ramp, 919 Arville, 926 Burnham, 930 Cameron, 932 Claymont, 933 Decatur, 936 Don Bonito, 940 Eastern, 945 Eucalyptus, 946 Tuscany Casino Drive, 949 Mojave, 955 Koval, 957 Grand Bazaar, 961 Maryland Parkway, 964 Mt. Vista, 968 Palos Verdes, 970 Paradise, 972 Hospital Circle, 974 Pecos, 982 Sandhill, 985 Boulder Highway, 987 Spencer, 990 Swenson, 992 Tamarus, 996 Valley View, 1000 Royal Flush Way, 3741 Pearl, and 5347 McLeod.

Westbound:
951 Howard Hughes Pkwy, 971 Paradise, 935 Edmond, 938 Duneville, 941 Eastern, 956 Koval, 958 Las Vegas Boulevard, 960 Lindell, 961 Swenson, 962 Maryland, 969 Palos Verdes, 989 Rainbow, and 995 Torrey Pines.

Tropicana Avenue Roadwork
The Nevada Department of Transportation is continuing work along Tropicana Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Boulder Highway. For further information on this project, please contact the contractor Aggregate Industries at (702) 355-0589.

2015 Updates

Construction along Flamingo Rd. will be done in two phases.

  • Phase 1 Grand Canyon to Rainbow Blvd. and Las Vegas Blvd. to Eastern Ave.
  • Phase 2 – Rainbow Blvd. to Hotel Rio Dr. and Eastern Ave. to Jimmy Durante Blvd.


Phase 1 – April 1, 2015 to December 2015
Work began on April 19, 2015, and included the closure of the inside lane to allow for median work, which continued for four weeks. Closures along the outside lanes will continue through December 2015.

Prior to the start of construction, residents and businesses along Flamingo Road  received general project information and continue to receive notifications via weekly construction updates on this website, the RTC’s social media channels  and via e-mail.

Phase 2 – August 2015 to October 2016
Phase 2 work between Rainbow Boulevard and Hotel Rio Drive began in August 2015 and include the closure of the inside lane to allow for median work, which will continue for two to four weeks. Once median work has been completed, closures along the outside lanes will continue through November 2016.

Phase 2 work between Eastern Avenue and Jimmy Durante Boulevard begins November 2015. Overnight electrical work will be followed by bus pad and pedestrian shelter placement requiring closures along the outside lanes. Work will then move to the medians requiring inside lane restrictions through October 2016.

Flamingo Road Corridor Improvement Project Information

Flamingo Rd. is a major east-to-west arterial street that connects extensive existing and planned commercial and residential development directly to the heart of the Resort Corridor and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus. The combination of large residential populations at the ends of Flamingo Road and concentrated employment at the center generates substantial commuter traffic on Flamingo Road. The existing transit line on the corridor has more than 12,000 passenger boardings daily, making it the most used residential route in the RTC’s transit system. In addition, Flamingo Road includes connections to all major north-south transportation and transit corridors for the 2 million residents of the Las Vegas valley.

Flamingo Rd. Transit Route Planned Components

  • 14-mile transit corridor improvements from Grand Canyon Drive to Jimmy Durante Boulevard
  • Connection to 15 transit routes, including 11 residential, 3 express routes (Strip & Downtown Express, Centennial Express, Boulder Highway Express) and the Deuce on the Strip
  • Dedicated bus/bike lanes
  • Bus will operate in regular traffic lanes from Grand Canyon Drive to Rainbow Boulevard, from Arville Street to Koval Lane and from Boulder Highway to Jimmy Durante Boulevard

Open House Meeting Displays

Public meetings were held in April 2014 and February 2015 and public comments were recorded at the meetings, over the phone, by U.S. Postal Service. and e-mail. The comments were then considered in discussions with affected landowners about which combination of proposed improvements should be implemented.

During the month of April the RTC held several mobile public meetings to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about the project which includes upgraded pedestrian crossings, new transit shelters, dedicated bus and bike lanes along Flamingo Rd.
