GRADES K-5
The Kindergarten through 5th grade presentation provides students with a general understanding of the role transportation plays in our daily lives, while beginning to teach them about alternative transportation options such as the Regional Transportation System (RTC's) transit system.
What they’ll learn:
- The role transportation plays in their lives
- Different types of alternative transportation
- The RTC transit system
- Bicycle safety rules
- Bus safety rules
- The difference between a RTC transit and a school bus

GRADES 6-8
The 6th through 8th grade presentation provides students with not only a general understanding of the role transportation plays in our daily lives, but also more detailed information about air quality and alternative transportation options.
What they’ll learn:
- The role transportation plays in their lives
- Different types of alternative transportation
- How to use the RTC bus
- Bicycle safety rules
- Basic air quality and environmental issues

GRADES 9-12
The 9th through 12th grade presentation provides students with not only a general understanding of the role transportation plays in our everyday lives, but also tools to use the RTC transit system and a detailed understanding of air quality and traffic congestion issues. A more comprehensive presentation will be followed up with a return visit by an outreach specialist where a transportation jeopardy game will allow students to see what they’ve learned!
What they’ll learn:
- The role transportation plays in their lives
- About the Regional Transportation Commission and the different things it is responsible for within the community
- How to use the RTC transit system
- How to use alternative transportation options
- Air quality and things that affect it
- Economic advantages of using alternative transportation over single-occupancy vehicles
- The causes, effects and possible solutions of traffic congestion
