Jacob joined the RTC in July 1999 as its General Manager. The RTC is one of the few agencies in the nation that serves as the street and highway planning and funding agency, the regional freeway and arterial traffic management agency, and the regional transit provider.
As General Manager Jacob has overseen the planning and implementation of the rapid transit Metropolitan Area Express, the successful launch of the double-deck Deuce vehicles on the Las Vegas Strip and the initial completion of the 215 Bruce Woodbury Beltway. He is currently overseeing the development of the RTC’s ACE rapid transit system for Southern Nevada. The first ACE line – the ACE Gold line – will debut in Spring 2010 and will provide an enhanced rapid transit link between the Downtown Las Vegas area and the Las Vegas Strip.
Jacob is actively involved in national transportation issues. He is currently on the board for the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations and he’s a former board member for the American Public Transportation Association.
Jacob is also very active in the local community and serves on the Board of Directors for the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is also a former member of the Henderson Library District.
Jacob was named the Government Official of the Year from the Associated General Contractors and Public Administrator of the Year from the American Society of Public Administrators. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography. He also holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from BYU and an accreditation from the Association of American Airport Executives. Prior to the RTC, Jacob served as the Assistant Director of Aviation for McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
Jacob is a native to Southern Nevada. He and his wife, Cheryl, have three children.
Tina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Business and Planning and is currently a member of the American Public Transit Association.
She and her husband, Dale, have two young children.
